Possible reasons why Service Coordinators miss billing opportunities

1) Emotional drain of a complicated case;

2) Discussion of a case with team mates that is helpful, but not necessarily billable.

3) Spending a lot of time on typing notes

4) Travel

5) Training

6) Helpful discussion with boss or other persons and overlooking billing opportunities.

7) Not planning ahead, having another billable activity waiting.

8) Fatigue or illness

9) A scheduled appointment is cancelled/a consumer doesn’t show up.

10) Computer malfunctions, takes several minutes to reboot.

11) Perfectionism

12) Obsessing about one issue or case, being unable to put it on hold and move to a new case.

13) Attempting to get completion or closure on something, but unable to do so at the time

14) Missed opportunities to send resource information to families

15) New referrals-can’t bill while previous TCM is in place or while trying to reach TCM for a transition meeting.

16) Jail or hospitalization of consumer. Services and monitoring must be provided but are not always billable.

17) Problems with “Go to My PC” when SC is working from home.
